THE clever bit

No outdoor unit. Just two small vents through one wall.

Normal air conditioning needs a bulky condenser bolted to the outside of your home, and often planning permission to go with it.

This doesn’t. The whole heat pump is built into one slim indoor unit, so all we fit outside are two neat, self-closing vents.

Slim & self Contained

Just 16.5cm deep, so it sits almost flush against the wall, high up or low down, wherever suits the room.

See the difference

The Bulky Box, or Two Neat Vents?

Most air conditioning bolts a large condenser to your outside wall. The RAC Solo needs nothing more than two small, tidy vents.
Left: a typical air conditioner’s outdoor unit. Right: all the RAC Solo leaves outside, two small vents.

STEP 03

Fitted within 7 to 10 working days

Our Gas Safe engineer installs your unit, usually in around half a day, and shows you how everything works before they leave.

Will it fit my home?

A few simple requirements.

If your room ticks these boxes, you’re good to go. Not sure? Give us a call, and we’ll happily check for you.

An outside wall, reachable from outside too

The unit sits on a wall that backs onto the outside, and we need access to that wall externally to fit the two grilles and a small condensate pipe.

It can go high on the wall or low near the floor.

A power socket within 2 metres

It simply plugs in. If your nearest socket is a little further, an extension lead is fine, or we can extend the supply up to 5 metres for a small charge.

Room to fit, plus a little space around it

Allow space for the unit itself and around 200mm of clearance around it, so we can install and service it easily.

That’s it. No gas connection, no outdoor unit, no special wiring.

The fit itself usually takes around 4 hours; we use specialist equipment to bore the two neat vent holes and make everything good before we leave.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I really not need an outdoor unit?

Correct. The entire heat pump is built into the indoor unit. The only thing fitted outside is two small, self-closing vents through the wall. Nothing is on display, and there is no condenser box.

Yes. It’s a reverse cycle heat pump, so the same unit provides efficient heating right down to minus 15°C outside. It’s a year round comfort system, not just summer cooling.
Because it’s energy saving heat pump technology, it currently qualifies for 0% VAT on supply and installation. The prices shown already include that saving, so there’s nothing extra to add.
Most installs take around 4 hours. We use specialist equipment to bore the two vent holes cleanly, and there’s no refrigerant pipework or scaffolding, so it’s quick and tidy.
Pick the closest match and order, or request a free callback. Either way we confirm the right size for your room on the phone before we book your installation.
An outside wall we can also reach from outside, a plug socket within 2 metres (an extension lead is fine, or we can extend the supply up to 5 metres for a small charge), and enough space for the unit plus around 200mm of clearance around it.

Standard installation is within 7 to 10 working days. If you need it sooner, express installation on selected weekdays and weekends is available for an extra £200. Just let us know when we call.

Real Customer Experiences

We are proud of the difference our work makes for local families. One recent project in Guildford involved installing a new air-source heat pump for a family looking to cut energy costs. Within months, they noticed their heating bills were lower, their home felt warmer, and they were delighted with the quiet, reliable operation of their new system.

Another installation in Aldershot saw us fit a ground-source heat pump for a homeowner keen to embrace renewable technology. The project was completed on time, with minimal disruption, and the customer commented on how professional, polite, and knowledgeable our team were throughout. These are just two examples of the many installations we’ve carried out across Hampshire and Surrey, helping households to save money and live more sustainably.
